Welcome to the Junior Orchestras and Ensembles Portal
Existing musicians of the Junior Orchestra should login to the protected area using the login form in the sidebar on the right.
Our Junior groups consist of dedicated young instrumentalists on a variety of instruments, depending on their level of playing and age. They have the opportunity to develop their musical abilities and ensemble skills in an environment different from the more Senior groups. All their repertoire, activities and rehearsals are more informal, filled with fun and rewarding elements.
All players in the Orchestra and Ensembles are assisted by dedicated, experienced tutors, motivating and helping them to improve their intonation, tuning, breathing, ensemble skills and learning to follow and interpret a conductor.
Our Junior Orchestra was privileged to Premiere two new compositions by Andrea Fisher-Jeffes during the past three years and also perform them overseas. These compositions are African Suite (G:iraffe, a:Meerkat, C:Hippo) and Prieska! (Rolling hills, lost cows and wish for rain) composed in 2016.
Mentors like Camillo Robert Lombard and Craig Parks has graciously shared their wisdom and expertise with our students and has becomes a vital part of the jazz learning process.
It is compulsory to play an orchestral instrument to be considered for the orchestra, unless the student is interested to take part in the percussion section. Guitar and Drum-kit students are welcome to apply for the Junior Jazz Band.
